Acetylene
Acetylene Gas Supplier
Acetylene (C2 H2) is not an air gas, but a synthesis gas generally produced from the reaction of calcium carbide with water. A gaseous hydrocarbon, it is colorless, has a strong garlic odor, is unstable, highly combustible, and produces a very hot flame (over 3000°C or 5400°F) when combined with oxygen
A gaseous hydrocarbon, acetylene is colorless, has a strong garlic odor, is unstable, highly combustible, and produces a very hot flame (over 3000°C or 5400°F) when combined with oxygen. In fact, it has one of the hottest flame temperatures of any commercially available fuel gas (5720°F), which is why acetylene gas makes an excellent choice for welding, brazing, and cutting steel alloys.
In scientific applications, acetylene gas is used as an instrumentation gas and a fuel gas and is the most important of all starting materials for organic synthesis. It readily combines with a wide range of elements and compounds, making it ideal for the commercial manufacture of various industrial and consumer products.
We offer acetylene delivery in two grades:
- Commercial
- Atomic absorption (AA)
We have a variety of acetylene gas supply options to meet a wide range of requirements. Contact us to speak with a knowledgeable representative or schedule a next-day delivery of acetylene tanks in Los Angeles or in Orange County.
